Our photo shows Akeel Javed, Dewsbury’s Festival of Flight Ambassador during his training learning to fly a Cessna aeroplane near Inverness in the North of Scotland. Beautiful scenery! Akeel is going to be leading two future Festival of Flight exhibitions and events for other young people in Dewsbury which have been organised by Young Dewsbury.

The first one runs from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30, at 10am – 2pm at Young Dewsbury, in Dewsbury Town Hall.

The second one runs from Monday, August 9 to Friday, August 13, at 10 am – 2pm at Dewsbury Arena Youth Centre.

If you’re aged 13-19 and live near Dewsbury, put the dates in your diary!

George Plumley’s WordPress 24-Hour Trainer is a great book which comes with an equally good training DVD. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

I bet it will take you a lot longer than 24 hours to work your way through it!

Social Media Surgery in Huddersfield

This is a photo of today’s Social Media Surgery at the Media Centre, Huddersfield. Many thanks to Steve for his help with the PHP code. I’m now convinced the letters stand for Pretty Hard Programming! In gratitude I’ve offered to be a ‘Social Media Surgeon’ for future surgeries.

SIGNS OF LIVES – my new blog

May 18, 2010

My next step beyond Signs of Communities is to provide people with the practical tools to record, retrieve and interpret the signs of their lives. It’s called SIGNS OF LIVES and you can click on those words in capitals to go to it. It’s about “How to record, store and retrieve your life and the lives of those you love.” I hope you find it useful.

It will cover family history, genealogy, family and community video, sound recording, archiving, retrieval, interpretation in every sense, diaries, scrapbooking, memoirs and biographies, the new social media for family and community. Lots of related things that are the signs of our lives.

Please visit it if you are interested and feel welcome to leave a comment if you wish to suggest additions or improvements.
